sales brochure for the Spider 1600. This is simply titled "Spider

1967 ALFA ROMEO
SPIDER 1600 This may be the
second generation of the six page brochure and is titled "Alfa
Romeo Spider 1600". The pictures in this brochure are the same
as those in the previous brochure. The car is described as "the
most beautiful under the sun" in the Italian
and German
versions. In the English
version, the introduction of the Spider 1600 is considered "The
birth of a legend". The car is further described as being "real
go machine". 6 pages. Printed in Italy. Dimensions: 5 1/4" X 8 3/4" (13.5 cm X 22.5 cm)

one exception. This brochure shows the Spider with the optional hardtop.
In the English
version, "The birth of a legend" connotation is still
present and the car is further described as being "real go
machine". The text in the German
version is the same as the previous with the Spider 1600 described as

1966-1968 ALFA
ROMEO SPIDER 1600 These are
considered prestige catalogs and are the best as they contain many large
format pictures and lots of interesting writing. Many of the photographs
in this catalog are also in the smaller brochures. The theme of the
early English
version, is different than the small format folders. Here, the car is
described as "even prettier than it's picture". The German
version still has the same theme, "the most beautiful under the
sun". There is another English version, written especially for
the American
market. Here, the Spider 1600 is "the one experts call best
by far". Who are these experts? They are the editors of Car
and Driver Magazine. Photographed by O. Toscani and edited by A.
Garzanti. 20 pages. Printed in Italy. Dimensions: 8 1/2" X 11" (22 cm X 28 cm)
Alfa Romeo 1967

Characteristics. These Italian
and German
brochures contain a B&W picture and technical specifications of
Giulia 1300, 1300 Ti, Ti, Super, 1600 Spider, GT 1300 Junior, GT Veloce,
GTA, 2600 Berlina, 2600 Sprint, and 2600 SZ. Edited by A. Garzanti.
15 pages. Printed in Italy. Dimensions: 4" X 8" (10.2 cm X 20.3 cm)
1967 Alfa Romeo

market 6 page folder contains a photo and specifications of Giulia
Super, Spider 1600 and GT Veloce. Page 5 contains a brief discussion of

1968 1750
Spider Veloce According to Walter
Zeichner, author of Alfa Romeo Spider 1956-1986, this 8 page
folder was issued especially for the 1968 Brussels Auto Show. It's sad
that Alfa Romeos marketing department could have thought of anything new
to write in the brochures. The English
and German
brochures carry the same description as the other brochures. Edited by
Aldo Garzanti and photographed by Serge Libiszewski. 8 pages.
Printed in Italy. Dimensions: 5 3/4" X 8 3/4" (14.5 cm X 22.2 cm)
1968 Alfa Romeo
This 8 page folder is a very rare Japanese
piece. The Alfa Romeo market was very small during the 60's and not many
brochures were printed. All of the pictures in this folder except the
1300 GT Junior are factory pictures. The 1300 GT Junior is a righthand
drive car with Japanese license plates. 8 pages. Printed in
Japan. Dimensions: 5 3/4" X 8 3/4" (13.4 cm X 22.1 cm)
1968-1969 1750
Spider Veloce Alfa Romeo Most of
the pictures in this 24 page catalog are the same ones used in the 1600
Spider catalog. The pictures of the interior are of the 1750 Spider
Veloce. These first two catalogs are from 1968. In the English
Version, the car is described as "Even Prettier Than It's
Picture". It is interesting that this English version is the
only one carrying this description. In the Italian
version, the car is still described as. "The Most Beautiful
Under The Sun". It was not until 1969 that Alfa Romeo began to
serialize their sales material. The 1969 French
(691A22R) and English
(691A23R) versions still differ in their descriptions. This later
English version has the same text as the 1968 version with the exception
of some subtle changes in some of the numbers such as speed and
measurements. Edited by Aldo Garzanti. 20 pages. Printed in Italy. Dimensions: 8 1/2" X 11" (22 cm X 28 cm)
