Remember the "Sounds
of silence" and "Mrs.
Robinson" by Simon and
Garfunkel? That music is excellent Duetto music since
Dustin Hoffman was driving his Duetto in the movie
"The Graduate" in 1967.
If you haven't seen the movie
yet, just go get it and enjoy the Alfa Romeo Spider.
That's my Alfa Romeo Duetto. Dustin Hoffman's Alfa
Romeo was a red 1966 1600 Duetto. Dustin Hoffman was
related to the US Alfa-importer, so that's why the
Duetto became a movie-star. They used three cars, all
of them 1600 European versions. They are all in
the Duettoregister, one is in Colorado BTW. Read more
under the Duetto FAQ section. In
the excellent book "Alfa Romeo Duetto
Spiders" by Gienzano Madaro, you may read all
about it. Publ. Giorgio Nada Editore,

1967 Dustin Hoffman was in the movie "The
Graduate" Most alfisti remember the
movie because Dustin had a Duetto. The Graduate was a
tremendous success and got the Oscar award, Mike
Nichols did a great job. Simon and garfunkel made the
memorable songs, The Sound of Silence, Scarborough
Fair and of course Mrs Robinson.
Perfect Spidermusic.
They actually used three
Duettos in the movie. One with a radio and sun visors,
one without the radio and antenna and a third Duetto
without sun visors and a different radio. Useless
knowledge but if you too have seen the Graduate over
and over again, you might have noticed. otherwise,
keep your eyes open the next time you see this classic
movie.
Pictures are from the movie.
