Piemonte

Stina and I found this hotel, Villa Conte Ricardo in southern Piemonte.

The car in the back is a VW something with a RR-grill. But the Villa was very exclusive . .

We have to go there again

and very old.

Aosta

The swimming pool was just what we needed. Then a two day trip to Aosta Valley, very good roads, but no pictures taken.

Lago Maggiore

We made a two day stop in Riva, south of Laveno, east side of Lago Maggiore and the  Albergo Riva  We have been here before and we still like this favorite place.

A scenic view from Lago Maggiore. Highly recommended. You will find it north of Milano in Lombardia. The Swiss border is five minutes away.

Lago Maggiore, west side of the lake

The west side of the lake was even more exclusive. Italy is fantastic.

A two course dinner with vine and mineral water for 10 €. And it tasted really good. Of course there were some narrow roads through the small villages too.

Arcumeggia

Close to Riva, up in the mountains we went to this small village. Arcumeggia is hard to find up in the very small and narrow mountain roads. The artist have decorated the walls for more than one hundred years.

The village Arcumeggia was practically abandoned, we did not see or hear anybody. It was like we were back a hundred years. Finally, we found a restaurant. As usual, we were sitting outside admiring the view. Italy is a very beautiful country.

Here we have another wall painting by an unknown artist. They were all carrying a signature, though time had made it impossible to see the name of the artist, I think many of them made it and had a good life. The paintings were all over the place. Some were just a few years old, some were dated in the late 1800. Switzerland

Remember the Bentley we spotted on train four weeks ago? While driving through Switzerland, we suddenly saw another Bentley. Not the same, but I suspect they had a meeting somewhere, as the locals told us so.

Germany

Switzerland and the Alps. Then a lake and Stina and the Spider. Very nice. We drove via Laveno, Liuno, Lugan, St. Moritz. 1.900 meters altitude so I had to adjust the carbs. Then through the Passo de Maloja and Landeck to Hopferau in southern Germany.

Denmark and then  back in Sweden again

Stina is tampering with the map. She is an excellent GPS. I just follow her instructions and drive, she tells me left 200 meters, right 45 degrees 50 meters. Shift gears and keep on revving.

The rest of our summer tour 2004 went through Germany to Puttgarden and the ferry to Denmark. Via Copenhagen we were back home again.

This summer Tour 2004 was something that will keep my alfa mind warm in the winter!

Thanks everyone. We'll be back.

Wille R.

We drove 4206 kilometers, used 398 liters of fuel and 2 liter engine oil. We did not face any problems this time either. So, dear friends, do not be afraid to drive away for a few weeks or so. Even if the total distance is scaring you, trust your Alfa Romeo Spider. She'll love it and will not let you down.

And, what could be more fun than driving your Spider?

Cheers                     Wille R.
