DCI had
booked a hotel, not just booked, we had the hole place for us. Bebo
is ready for take off. |
So, imagine a
hotel with a huge amount of Alfa Romeo Spiders. Excellent view from
the hotel balcony. |
Our Duetto
got company from the same decade. A Giulia 1600 Spider joined us. |
|
|
|
A Duetto,
1600. Red carpets was an option, looks nice, really nice. I found
that this Duetto was one of the very first with this original
outfit. Still looking up to date. |
Yet another
1300 Jr Duetto. Due to legal restrictions and taxes, the Italian
market had an engine just under 1300cc.
The 1300 Jr had a two spoke steering wheel.
|
Again,
another 1300 Jr to be admired. Most of the old Duettos had only a
few km on the odometer. Not many people drive these cars. If you ask
me, they should be on the road a lot more. |

|
A strict rule
on all our meetings. Always start with a full tank, no fuel stops.
So we are always obliged to check fuel before take-off. Due to this,
the service-station makes a lot of money in the evening.
Makes sense, so the group is not affected while
driving. |
Here, you may
get the impression of all the Spiders. It is quite a long line of
Alfa Romeo Spiders. All various colors are being represented. |
We were lucky
to drive and follow the yellow S4 Spiders. easy to spot.
And the were revving quite OK, if you ask me. |
|
|
|
On our way,
we passed Lago di Corbara, east of Orvieto. Soon to be in Civitella
del Lago |
Wow, here we
go, shifting gears and revving, sometimes it went quite fast, but no
accidents. Queuing and being admired by the local population. |
And then,
revving downhill heading for La Peninsola, where DCI had an enormous
Italian lunch prepared. |
|
|
|
As always,
when a hundred or so Spiders need to cross a regular road, traffic
jam comes hand in hand. |
But when you
turn your head and look behind you, what an excellent view. Italian
Spiders and Italian friends, very sympathetic. |
The lovely
Lago Corbara and the Penninsola. |

L'organizzatore
dell'evento...perfetto duettista Gava - Gaetano Vaccaro The
organizer, grazie |
Puh, another
junction and a lot of Duettos. |
You can spot
the Lago Corbara finally. |
|

|
I like Umbria! |
In the
parking lot, alfisti tend to open the bonnets. Then, engines are
being scanned and commented and admired.
We all know every (almost) part and stud and nut,
but it's a never ending story. This is a 1600 Duetto engine, 1966. |
Even for a
true Viking from Scandinavia, it is nice to park under the shadow of
the trees. |
|
|
|
Luciano and
his family in the S4. |
Aargh, nice
Duetto from Rome. |
My turn.
Genuine leather helmet me look like something from an Ingmar Bergman
movie. Some say I would scare the children in this outfit. |
|
|
|
A fun event. |
